I took a much needed deep breath. I had been squealing hard on a diaphragm turkey call for five minutes or more. Indeed, that is not an effective turkey calling method. My ridiculous sounding calls were, in fact, to attract a coyote within shotgun range.



On January 16th, Dane County Circuit Court Judge Peter C. Anderson issued a favorable ruling for sportsmen in a lawsuit on the use of dogs in the state's wolf hunt. This ruling paves the way for wolf hunting with dogs to take place next season.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and The Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) released two new reports today documenting the importance of sportsmen's activities in America. NSSF's Hunting in America: An Economic Force for Conservation and CSF's America's Sporting Heritage, Fueling the American Economy reports provide detailed information about participation and expenditures by American sportsmen and women.

Everything occurs online today, even hunting.  Who would have thought that hunting is all about online today – licenses, hunter education and access to the sport.

“The 2013 Python Challenge™ is underway in Florida with 800+ hunters from 32 states registered and searching for the elusive Burmese python in the wilds of the Florida Everglades.  The Burmese python is extremely well camouflaged and can grow to more than 17-feet in length.  This hunt even made the national news this weekend casting a positive light for hunters helping with conservation efforts.
