The National Rifle Association (NRA) is reporting that membership is surging since the December 14 Newtown shootings.  In the week after the shooting, new members were joining at a rate of 8,000 a day with a total of over 100,000 new members. 

It is not unusual for gun buying to spike and NRA membership to increase after high-profile mass shootings, but the rates of increase in the past 30-days is higher than normal.

Vice President Joe Biden revealed yesterday how serious the White House is to take action against firearms.  The White House with the help of the attorney general is investigating the ability to use an executive order to enact their measures to ban guns.  Vice President Biden said:  “its critically important that we act.”

When I purchased my first Bushmaster AR-15 style firearm a year ago, I found it was fun to target shoot, but required some different skills from my standard Remington 700 bolt-action rifle.
